Support of the Development of National Strategies
Development of strategies for initiation and strengthening of a national agenda in ecologically compatible land use management by means of specific studies, seminars, workshops, round table discussions, awareness building and training.
Development of Planning Instruments
Development and demonstration of appropriate methods and instruments for spatial description and evaluation for planning purposes, development and demonstration of concepts for ecologically land use management, instruments for ecologically compatible town planning, development and demonstration of planning instruments for identification, delineation and licensing of specific protection areas, planning instruments for rehabilitation of ecologically degraded areas.
Institutional Development
Supporting and strengthening of institutions concerned with planning, national and international organisation of information exchange, "Institutional Twinning": initiation and organising co- operations between partner institutions in developing countries and their counterparts in countries with a tradition and long term experience in ecologically compatible planning, creating new networks or strengthening those already existing.
Awareness Building
Organisation of measures to strengthen awareness for the need for and usefulness of ecologically compatible land use management. Such measures include problem and solution oriented visits and demonstration programmes, seminars and workshops.
Training and Capacity Building
Development of training concepts and programmes, development of curricula, development of training modules, organisation of training programmes with particular emphasis on practical planning skills and on creating awareness and understanding of how planning systems work, how they have to be structured and how results can be measured and evaluated.
